CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE (MARINE ENGINEERING)
The Centre of Excellence (Marine Engineering) [CoE (ME)] was established in Jul 14 with a mandate to provide state-of-the-art technology solutions to the field issues of IN ships, create a prolific environment for development of advanced technologies for IN applications, impart world class education in the field of marine engineering and create awareness with technology update courses through a seamless interface between Indian Navy, Academia, R&D Institutions and Industries. Being the nodal agency for initiating, coordinating and monitoring technical projects/research work of scholars/faculty in academia, the CoE(ME) has established academic/industrial collaboration with institutes of high repute such as the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, Defence Research & Development Organisation, National Material Research Laboratory, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, Raja Ramanna Centre of Advanced Technology, Indore and Larsen & Toubro.
Professional Domain
CoE(ME) has undertaken studies on multiple subjects pertinent to the Navy. A number of projects pertaining to advanced cooling systems, advanced waster heat recovery systems, study of corrosion in fresh water systems, etc. are currently underway in collaboration with reputed academia.
Academic Domain
The Centre of Excellence (Marine Engineering) also conducts Continuing Education Programmes (CEPs) for mid-level officers on subjects relevant to Naval applications. 11 CEPs have been completed till date on subjects such as Propulsion System Integration, Management of New Construction Projects, Advanced Naval Propulsion Technologies, etc. CoE(ME) also conducts a Bridging Engineering for officers of the Engineering Branch post completion of B.Tech at INA, Ezimala.
